Details of the Day

  • Today was Busch’s fifth top-10 finish of the season, his 285th MENCS career top-10. He was one of three Team Chevy drivers to finish in the top-10 today
  • Busch had to make an unscheduled stop on lap 206 for a bad vibration, which was a result of the right front tire coming apart
  • The race was slowed  by caution five times for a total of 29 laps
  • The lead changed 26 times among 13 drivers

Kurt Busch, No. 1 GEARWRENCH Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – “It was tough today. We had a right front (tire) go bad. So, somehow we’re not getting enough heat into the tires to get a good qualifying run and not lose spots on restarts, but then the car comes alive once it has heat it starts to burn-up the right front tire. It was kind of a weird day; really confused about a lot of different things with the dirty air and the grip level. But, all-in-all to be another top-10 finish, I’m really happy for the GEARWRENCH Team and everybody that’s working on the car. We brought home a ninth-place car with that flat tire. We’ll just chiseling away. We’ve got a couple of short tracks coming up now.”

MENCS teams will head to Bristol Motor Speedway next week for the Food City 500 on Sunday, Apr. 7. Fox Sports 1, PRN affiliates, and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 will have live coverage beginning at 2:00pm ET.
