Details of the Day

  • Busch restarted seventh on lap 273 following the race’s final caution and was shuffled back, battling a loose handling car, he made slight contact with the wall, causing damage to the right rear of the car, dropping out of top-10 contention
  • The caution flag was shown nine times tonight, for a total of 48 laps
  • The lead changed 14 times among seven drivers

Matt McCall, Crew Chief, No. 1 Monster Energy Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – “We battled with a loose handling car for a better part of the day. Kurt did a nice job trying to maintain track position, but on that final restart he just couldn’t get going, having to restart on the inside line. We opted to pit under the last caution, hoping we could get a restart on the outside and make the adjustments to help with the handling. Unfortunately, with such a loose handling car, we just couldn’t contend after making contact with the wall and dropping out of the top-10.”

MENCS teams will head to Pocono Raceway next week for the Gander RV 400 on Sunday, Jul. 28. NBC Sports, MRN affiliates and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 will have live coverage beginning at 3:00pm ET.
